New York residents: Under New York law, insurance companies that receive a valid order of protection are required to protect the confidentiality of the victim and any child residing with the victim, as well as confidential information of a covered provider. This means that when a protective order is received, the insurance company cannot disclose any personal information about the victim to the individual against whom the order has been issued.
